I believe that every leader needs to be in a Mastermind group. I have been in a Mastermind group for the past 6 years and it has been the greatest source of growth in my life.
In case you’re unfamiliar, Mastermind groups are groups of 6-12 leaders that meet together on a consistent basis for at least one year in order to help each other grow, hold each other accountable, and do life and leadership together.
We have been running Masterminds for 6 years at L3 Leadership. I would love for you to join or lead one of our groups, but before you consider that, I want to give you a glimpse of what you would experience after being in one of our groups:
We want our Mastermind Group Members to be a place where you can be fully known, fully loved, fully challenged. Let me explain what that means:
Fully Known, Fully Loved, and Fully Challenged
Fully Known – To be fully known means that you can be completely transparent and authentic with your group. You are able to open up about the highs and lows of your life. Ultimately, your group will know everything about you and you are comfortable with that. Very few leaders that I know have a group of people in which they are fully known. Joining a Mastermind group could be the first time in your life or leadership that you get to experience this.
Fully Loved – To be fully loved means that you are not only fully known but you’re also fully loved for who you are, where you are.
Fully Challenged – This is where the growth comes in. Yes, we love you where you are, but we also love you enough to not let you stay where you are. Once you have a group of leaders around you that know and love you fully, it becomes a lot easier for you to allow them to challenge you to grow.
To be honest, if every leader we influence had a group in which they truly were known, loved, and challenged, I believe the world would be a much better place.
Do you currently have a group of people around you that fully know you, fully love you, and fully challenge you?

What Living Intentionally looks like after being in a Mastermind:
After a year of being in one of our mastermind groups, we want the following to be true of your life and leadership:
You will Have a Life Plan – We have all of our members create life plans. This will enable them to live intentionally for the rest of their lives.
You will Set goals and Review them Quarterly – All of our groups set goals, share them publicly, and review them quarterly. This is a practice we hope they’ll continue throughout their lives.
You will Journal Consistently – If you’ve been around me for any period of time, then you know I am a huge fan of journaling. In fact, I have a course I created that we have Mastermind members go through to learn how to journal. It’s a life-changing practice.
You will do year-end reviews – At the end of each year, we want our members to reflect on and extract lessons from the year they just lived so that they can grow and make even better decisions in the upcoming year.
You will know your purpose – This is huge. We don’t want people to be wandering aimlessly through life. We want them to know they have a purpose and to live out that purpose. We’ve had several members quit their jobs that they weren’t enjoying to go pursue their purpose. It’s been incredible to see the results of those decisions.
You will become self-aware – We say it often, but when a leader gets better, everyone and everything around that leader gets better. Often, getting better comes from becoming more self-aware. We provide several tools to help leaders gain self-awareness.
When a leader gets better, everyone and everything around that leader gets betterClick To TweetYou will Prioritize Your Family over Work – We want the leaders we influence to have the following definition of success: “Success is when those closest to move, love and respect me the most.” We believe the greatest leadership assignment we’ll ever have is leading our families. We take that seriously.

You will be Bigger on the inside than they are on the outside – We want the leaders we influence to become leaders with character and integrity. We believe that character development is the most important development.

At the end of the day, we want the members of our mastermind groups to not be able to imagine their life or leadership journeys without a mastermind group. We want them to have their lives transformed. We want them to have a story of transformation that they can share with others.
A year of your life is going to go by regardless of whether or not you choose to grow. If you decide to join or lead a mastermind group, a year from now you could be fully known, fully loved, and fully challenged and be living more intentionally than you ever have.
What are you waiting for?
